Posted on: 12 January 2018

When it comes to your appliances, there are some simple thigs that can go wrong with them that you may be able to take care of yourself. By learning about the issues that you can repair yourself, you can cut down on the need for repair persons. However, any time you feel you aren't up to taking care of an issue, it's best to have a professional appliance repair person from a company like Jensen Appliance & Refrigeration Service do it for you so you know it has been done correctly. Here are some of the simple appliance issues you may be able to fix on your own:

Your washing machine – If you have moved and you find that the cord for your washing machine won't fit correctly into the outlet at your new place, you can take a picture of the outlet and take it to the local hardware shop, where they will help you buy the correct cord. Take off the old one and replace it with the new one that should now go right into the outlet. Also, if any of the buttons on your machine break, take them completely off by pulling on them and replace them with the same kind.

Your dryer – If the lint screen for your dryer gets damaged, you can purchase a new one for that model and put it right in the slot. Also, if the tubing for the dryer venting system gets damaged, you want to buy new tubing, cut an appropriate length, attach it to the vent port on the back of the dryer, and connect it to the port on the wall that goes outside. Make sure there are no kinks in the new tubing.

Your refrigerator – A common mishap that can happen with refrigerators is that the shelves and racks can break. If this happens, you can have a new one ordered for your model. When it comes, simply throw out the damaged one and put the new one in its place. If you notice dripping coming from the bottom of your refrigerator, you may have a condensation tray under it that should be emptied. An easy way to do this is by pulling it out some and using a wet vac.

Your stove – If you have electric burners on your stove and one or more of them have stopped working, then you can order new ones for that stove. When they come in, remove and discard the old ones and replace them with the new ones by pushing them into place securely.
